Departure Checklist
If you are leaving your unit for an extended period of time, below is a general checklist to consider prior to departing. This list is not exhaustive but only suggestive. Additional departure tasks may apply for your unit. If you are a tenant or guest, you should contact your condo owner / landlord for a specific list.
Submit a US mail hold or change of address at: www.usps.com.
Place a vacation hold or cancel any subscriptions.
Set-up portable dehumidifiers to drain into the sink(s), shower, or tub.
Note: Setting up portable dehumidifiers is recommended to control humidity and serve as back-up if the AC fails. Set-up the dehumidifier(s) the night before to ensure the hose is hooked up properly and draining into the sink. If the hose is not hooked up property, the bucket will continue to gradually fill and shut off the dehumidifier to prevent overflow.Remove lanai furniture if you will be gone during storm season or an extended prior of time.
Note: All seasonal owners should remove furniture from the lanai for 2023 summer due to the exterior renovation project.Wash sheets, towels, etc.
Remove any food from the refrigerator and cabinets.
Remove any trash.
Close/lock the sliding glass doors.
Close/lock the windows.
Close the drapes and blinds to prevent sun damage.
Unplug major appliances and electronics to avoid electrical surges from thunderstorms.
Empty any ice cube containers. Use the ice cubes to clean your garage disposal.
Leave the refrigerator door propped open at least 2 inches if you turn off the refrigerator.
Turn on the thermostat to cool and set to 76 or lower.
Turn off the water heater at the circuit breaker box to conserve energy.
Turn off the water by flipping the main water valve above the water heater.
Note: This task is required by the HOA to minimize water damage from undiscovered potential leaks.Leave the bedroom doors and closet doors open to encourage air flow.
Check the closets for any left items.
Check your mailbox one last time.
Confirm the storage closet is locked.
Turn off lights.
Lock the unit door.
